IT’S A RACE LIKE NO OTHER
FROM THE HEART OF THE KAROO COMES THE RACE WITH SOUL
From the arid desertscapes of the Groot Karoo to the great mountains of the Klein Karoo and the aboriginal forests of the Garden Route, the Cape Pioneer has it all, a truly African mountain biking experience. The magic lies in the unique combination of exciting, diverse trails, passionate people and authentic human connection, brought to you by world class event organisers.

The result is a race that has achieved near legendary status.

You’re in for a treat. Already known for the quality of its route, the Cape Pioneer Trek has stepped it up a level yet again. The ninth edition of the race sees significant changes, including a point-to-point format, a coastal start in Mossel Bay and back-to-back ascents of the formidable Swartberg Pass.

All the old favourites are back (though you’ve never seen them like this before), mixing it up with some brand-new innovations that will get the heart pumping and the adrenalin flowing.

Never content to rest, the Dryland route design team continue to raise the bar for international mountain bike stage racing, right here on the tip of Africa. Take a tour through each stage below for a taste of what’s in store for 2017.

“Challenge. Community. Race. Experience. Pain. Party.
The Cape Pioneer Trek is all those rolled into one.
The best thing is, it’s not only about race time. It’s also the build up, the time of preparation when you ask yourself, can I make it? And the time after, the time of the memories, when you know, yes, I did it! Nothing can beat this kind of experience. That’s why for me, the Cape Pioneer Trek is one of the top mountain bike races in the world.”
