For those looking for adventurous half day outing join 3YO on one the thousand of the fun mountain biking routes in and around Stellenbosch. Stellenbosch surroundings  offers exquisite nature reserves and iconic mountains adding the most serene backdrop for anyone looking to explore the outdoors on a mountain bike. The trails range from easy jeep track, moderate single trails to the more technical trails for the most experienced mountain bikers. There is sure to be a trail for all adventure seekers to mountain bikers alike. 

Ask us about different option like rides  ending on one of our favourite wine farms, topped off with a mouthwatering picnic and wash down with even better tasting glass of wine. Or visiting multi wine farms for cellar tours or wine tasting exploring the in between nature by bike.

G-Spot has now attained international status as one of the best mountain bike single tracks in the world. This trail is managed by STF and as such is free of cost.

Koloniesland (easy)

The Koloniesland trails are our latest addition to our Trail Network and is located along the pristine Eersteriver. Located in the centre of Stellenbosch.

Eden Forest (intermediate)

Eden Forest was one of the oldest tracks in the region and downhill competitions have been happening here since the 90’s. Forestry and fires have changed the landscape in the last 10 years and some of the old tracks have disappeared only to be replaced by new tracks.

Jonkershoek (advanced)

Jonkershoek nature reserve which consist of a network of purpose built single track trails connected by forestry contour paths. Favourite sections include the Never-ending stories and Red Phoenix, 3 levels of single track zig zagging down the mountain. The tracks include some very challenging double black tracks as well as easy to use jeep tracks.

Enhance your South African experience and explore the stunning surroundings by foot. Be it trail run or hike, one of the most popular  activities is guided run (or hike) up Stellenbosch mountain with the African sun rise on your back.

Jonkershoek

Some of the other favourites routes  include Jonkershoek nature reserve at 9,800 hectares a mere 10km scenic route from Stellenbosch. It is a World heritage site and you can see why when you experience its rugged beauty. The reserve offers wide variety of trails, ranging between 5 km and 18 km, that criss-cross the natural amphitheatre formed by the mountain peaks surrounding the pine tree plantations and reservoir at the bottom of the long valley. One of the most popular is hikes is easy walk to the Eerste (simply known as the First) waterfall and involves little climbing. Then further onto a spectacular hike to the Tweede (second) waterfall for a cool down dip. Hikers might encounter family of baboons along the way to add to the wonderful African experience.

Coetzenberg

Starting at the Coetzenburg stadium a sun rise run or hike up the iconic Stellenbosch mountain is a must do before you leave this quaint little town. As the sun rises over the Botmanskop and illuminates Die Pieke (The Twin Peaks) so will hiker or trail runners experience the rise to the top and enjoy birds views of Table Mountain, Helderberg, False Bay, Stellenbosch and the Jonkershoek valley.
